Lil Kesh, Fireboy DML & Ayo Maff join forces for 'Vex For U'

Nigerian rapper and singer-songwriter Lil Kesh has returned with a brand new single titled Vex For U. Featuring YBNL star Fireboy DML and emerging talent Ayo Maff, it adds to Lil Kesh’s impressive catalogue. Produced by the talented beatmaker Eskeez, Vex For U combines elements of Afrobeats with heartfelt lyrics, striking a balance between modern soundscapes and regular themes of love and forgiveness.

The song narrates a relatable tale of romantic relationships and emotional resilience. In Vex For U, Lil Kesh, Fireboy DML, and Ayo Maff each bring their unique vocal styles and perspectives, collectively expressing their commitment to forgiving their significant others despite the misunderstandings. The song’s title, Vex For U, suggests frustration, yet its lyrics reveal a softer tone, emphasizing the difficulty of holding onto anger when true love is involved.

Lil Kesh’s contribution is applaudable. Since his days as a protégé in the YBNL record label founded by the heavyweight Olamide, Lil Kesh has evolved from a breakout star known for energetic street anthems to a more nuanced artist, experimenting with softer and more introspective themes. Fireboy DML, known for his melodious voice and emotive delivery, adds a rich layer to the track, embodying the pain and vulnerability of love. Meanwhile, Ayo Maff, a fresh voice in the industry, holds his own alongside these more established acts, adding a youthful edge that resonates with fans and demonstrates his potential to rise in the Afrobeats business.

The production by Eskeez is equally remarkable, blending rhythmic beats with smooth instrumentals that heighten the emotional depth of the lyrics. Eskeez has crafted a sound that balances tempo and melody, allowing each artist’s vocals to shine while maintaining a seamless groove that fans can vibe to. Known for bringing out the best in artists, Eskeez ensures the track has broad appeal while keeping it soulful and introspective.

Vex For U follows Lil Kesh’s previous single, Lifestyle, which dropped earlier in June. While Lifestyle showcased his more exuberant, carefree side, Vex For U presents a different angle of the artist, focusing on themes of forgiveness and emotional growth. This duality underscores Lil Kesh’s versatility, revealing his willingness to explore deeper subjects and connect with his audience on a more personal level.
