Nigerian Afropop veteran Iyanya has released his fifth studio album, The Forester’s Son. The 10-track project exhibits an artist who’s been consistent since his return to the music scene. Inspired by his roots and personal growth, the album explores themes of love, resilience, and self-discovery, offering a bold evolution in Iyanya’s discography. Following hits like Kukere and his 2024 album Once Upon a Cat, The Forester’s Son arrives as a creative milestone.

The Forester’s Son is a deep and personal endeavour, spotlighting Iyanya’s journey from his Calabar origins to stardom. The title evokes a sense of heritage and introspection, with tracks that weave nostalgic Afropop elements with contemporary Afro-fusion sounds. Produced with polished beats, amapiano influences, and melodic hooks, the album balances high-energy anthems with soulful ballads. Iyanya’s emotive delivery shines throughout, as he navigates vulnerability and confidence, making it a resonant listen for longtime fans and, of course, newcomers.

The album features a stellar roster of Afrobeats talents, enhancing its vibrant energy through seamless collaborations that amplify Iyanya’s vision. Fido joins on the lead single Sorry, a heartfelt plea blending regret and rhythm, while Mia Guiss adds soulful international flair to Peace of Mind. Shoday delivers street-pop swagger on Orobo, and King Promise infuses Ghanaian highlife vibes into Badboy. Reekado Banks brings a feel-good Afro-fusion banger with Yebo!, and the trio of Ice Prince, Magnito, and Moonlight Afrobeat unites for the collaborative hustle anthem Business. Kizz Daniel closes out with a motivational edge on Hold On. Standouts like the opener Bluewaters, with its dreamy production, and the titular Forester’s Son, a reflective finale, bookend the project with emotional depth. Sade offers a romantic mid-tempo groove, while Business brings infectious party energy. Clocking in at just over 8 minutes, the concise tracks pack punchy, replayable vibes perfect for playlists.

Released to immediate acclaim, The Forester’s Son has generated significant online excitement, with fans on social media praising its authenticity. Early reactions highlight the album’s bold creativity and seamless features, positioning it as a comeback highlight in 2025’s Afrobeats scene.

Stream The Forester’s Son is now available on various streaming platforms. With this release, Iyanya reaffirms his status as an Afropop maestro, inviting listeners into a forest of sound, soul, and stories.
