Adekunle Gold said 'Coco Money' and we're obsessed

Nigerian singer-songwriter Adekunle Gold has just released his much-awaited new single, Coco Money, his second official single for the year. The track has been in the consciousness of his fans since it was first teased at an exclusive dinner event back in May.

Coco Money is a vibrant, feel-good tune that captures Adekunle Gold‘s charm, blending witty songwriting with rhythms designed to get you moving. The song showcases his characteristic blend of influences from Afro-pop, Afrobeats, and highlife, featuring his smooth delivery and rich vocals that have made him a standout in the Nigerian music scene all these years.

Coco Money is particularly interesting for its creative sampling approach. The track interpolates one of Rihanna’s greatest hits, BBHMM, and, for a fact, it captures the song’s electrifying energy. The song’s title and lyrics, which include lines like: “k’owo pe o, k’owo pe, b*tch better have my money,” suggest themes of wealth, luxury, and confidence, aligning with Adekunle Gold’s recent embrace of a suave, “soft life” aesthetic.

The single represents Adekunle Gold’s first major release since his February 2025 track Obimo, and continues his artistic evolution following the success of his fifth studio album, Tequila Ever After, released in 2023. Since his breakthrough with the 2015 hit Sade, he has consistently delivered chart-topping music while transitioning from his “AG Baby” persona to become a more globally minded artist.

Produced by the talented Niphkeys, Coco Money centers around luxury, success, and prosperity, delivered with Adekunle Gold’s characteristic charisma and energy. Early reactions from fans who heard previews at the exclusive dinner have been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the new sound and eagerly anticipating the official release.
