Runtown Reaffirms Position with “Soundgod Fest Vol. IV’ EP

Nigerian music star Runtown marks a powerful return with the release of his highly anticipated EP Soundgod Fest Vol. IV, a six-track offering that reaffirms his place as one of Afrobeats’ most inventive and emotionally intelligent voices.

Coming off a deliberate period of quiet, Runtown, real name Douglas Jack Agu, delivers a cohesive sonic experience that blends emotional nuance with genre-fluid production. Far from a standard release, Soundgod Fest IV is a celebration of Runtown’s growth, artistic freedom, and refusal to conform.

Opening with Mood Swings, Runtown explores the unpredictability of love with layered vulnerability, followed by End A Man, a defiant, chest-out declaration of legacy. On Mon Bébé, he channels poetic finesse and Afro-R&B rhythm, threading French expressions into a tender ode to affection.

Do Me, already familiar to fans, returns with added depth, now anchored in the broader narrative arc of the EP. But perhaps the standout is Dangerous Hearts, a cinematic collaboration with UK artist Mr. Hudson that samples Sade’s Sweetest Taboo. Lush, romantic, and deeply nostalgic, the track showcases Runtown’s gift for bridging eras and cultures without losing his voice. The EP closes with Flow, a fluid finale that underscores the introspection laced throughout the project.

Known for his breakout hits Gallardo, Mad Over You, and For Life, Runtown has consistently pushed the limits of sound, fusing Afrobeats with hip-hop, R&B, reggae, and global influences. His independence and introspective artistry have kept him distinct in an industry driven by trends.

Soundgod Fest Vol. IV is not just a return, but a refined proclamation of artistry. It’s Runtown at his most confident, most thoughtful, and arguably, his best.
