Olamide enlists Asake, Seyi Vibez, Young Jonn & Daecolm for '99'

Nigerian heavyweight Olamide has reunited with his protégé Asake, alongside Seyi Vibez, Young Jonn, and British singer Daecolm, for his exhilarating new single 99. The track serves as the third pre-release single from his upcoming self-titled 11th album, Olamide, scheduled for release on June 18, 2025, featuring 17 tracks, including prior hits such as Hello Habibi, Metaverse, and Uptown Disco with Asake and Fireboy. Produced by Willis, 99 exhibits Olamide’s knack for uniting top talents from the music scene.

99 is an energetic summer anthem that fuses Olamide’s signature street rap with a vibrant mix of Afro-house and danceable rhythms, perfect for festival vibes. The song features a pulsating beat that allows each artist to shine. Asake brings his Afro-fusion flair, Seyi Vibez adds witty lyricism, Young Jonn contributes smooth hooks, and Daecolm infuses an international edge. Lyrics like “To the bank o / You know say money money make I dance o / I am feeling funky / Because I got a couple of milli lowkey” highlight a carefree, celebratory spirit, with the recurring “party like ’99” hook evoking nostalgia and fun. The track’s release has sparked mixed reactions, with some praising its all-star lineup and others feeling it doesn’t fully match the hype, though it has quickly climbed to No. 5 on Nigeria’s Apple Music Top Songs chart and is charting in 11 countries.

This collaboration marks a notable moment, especially given Asake’s departure from Olamide’s YBNL Nation to launch his own Giran Republic label in February 2025, alongside his single Why Love. Despite rumours of a rift, their reunion on 99 suggests a continued mutual respect. The official video is expected soon, adding to the anticipation for Olamidé, which also includes the recent Wizkid collaboration Kai. With over 600 million streams from his 2024 EP Ikigai, Olamide’s latest single reaffirms his status as a pivotal figure in Afrobeats, delivering a track poised to dominate the summer.
