Nigerian Afropop maestro Tekno, born Augustine Miles Kelechi, has released his captivating new single Alhaji, marking his first solo release of the year. Produced by the talented Ranson Beatz, the track is an energetic ode to a love that has Tekno completely hooked by a woman who’s captured his heart. Following the success of his 2023 album The More The Better and tracks like Ikebe, Alhaji showcases his signature charm, blending pure rhythm, romance, and irresistible drum patterns into a dancefloor-ready masterpiece.

The song pulses with Afrobeats’ infectious energy, featuring Tekno’s smooth vocals as he sings about a woman who has him utterly captivated, with the playful line “She hold me for work” serving as a standout hook. The track’s dynamic production, layered with compelling drum patterns and vibrant melodies, creates a romantic yet upbeat vibe that reflects Tekno’s ability to fuse streetwise charisma with heartfelt emotion. The official music video, directed by Dammy Twitch and released alongside the single, amplifies this energy with fast-paced visuals of Tekno dancing alongside lively performers and sharing tender moments with his leading lady, enhancing the song’s celebratory narrative.

Since its release, Alhaji has sparked a viral wave, with a pre-release snippet amassing over 8,000 TikTok videos, a testament to its immediate appeal. Fans have praised its groove and Tekno’s captivating delivery, further solidifying his status as an Afrobeats veteran, known for songs like Pana and collaborations with artists like Drake and Ciara. As of today, the track is gaining momentum across streaming platforms, promising to be a standout addition to Tekno’s illustrious discography and a highlight of the year’s music scene.
