Bad Boy Timz drops new EP 'WA JO PA'

Nigerian Afropop sensation Bad Boy Timz, born Olorunyomi Oloruntimilehin, has dropped his latest project, an 8-track EP titled WA JO PA. Following his 2023 debut album No Bad Boy, No Party, which featured heavyweights like Olamide and Zlatan, the new EP marks Timz’s first major release of 2025 and sees his continued artistic evolution. Known for his breakout 2020 hit MJ and his knack for blending street energy with infectious melodies, the Bells University computer engineering graduate delivers a project that celebrates life, and it attests to his versatility.

WA JO PA—which translates to “Dance Till You Burst” in Yoruba—lives up to its name with tracks that fuse Afrobeats’ rhythmic core with contemporary pop and street influences. The EP includes pre-released singles like Say Wetin, a spirited anthem celebrating Nigerian Pidgin English, and Later, which blends Afrobeats with modern rhythms, alongside new tracks like Big Engine, a dancefloor banger celebrating vibrant women, and Yo-Yo, a standout tune praised for its extraordinary energy. The EP, produced in part by Reward Beatz (tracks 1, 2, 4, and 7), offers a rich tapestry of sounds, showcasing Timz’s growth since his early days under Anonymous Music and his later moves with Shock Absorbers and EMPIRE.

Timz, who won Rookie of the Year at The Headies in 2020, goes solo on this project, relying on his own vocal prowess and songwriting to carry the EP, a bold move that pays off with its cohesive vibe. Tracks like Big Engine have already been noted for their “infectious Asewo vibes,” while the overall project has been called “no skip” by fans, reflecting its consistent quality. The release aligns with Timz’s independent streak, following his publicized label disputes in 2021, and reinforces his place in Afropop, where he’s carved a niche with hits like Loading and Big Money. With WA JO PA, Bad Boy Timz delivers a project that’s both a party starter and a cultural nod, poised to dominate playlists and dancefloors across Nigeria and beyond.
