Cobhams Asuquo Captures The Irony of Lagos Traffic In “The Traffic Song”

Visionary Nigerian performing artist, singer-songwriter, and music producer Cobhams Asuquo returns with his brilliant and humorous new single, The Traffic Song. A seasoned and versatile musician with an extensive discography of hit singles, Cobhams now turns his insightful gaze to the everyday realities of Lagos life, specifically the emotional and physical toll of its notorious traffic.

The Traffic Song is a mix of humour, prayer, and sharp urban critique. The chorus, which doubles as a plea “Dear Lord, deliver man”, details the shared Nigerian experience of endless gridlock. Cobhams’ witty lyrics paint a comical yet all-too-real diary of surviving traffic, filled with quirky anecdotes and vivid imagery, such as “I don buy socks and water for hold up o.” More than just a funny observation.

The Traffic Song is a clever cultural commentary on human patience and the ironic aspects of urban chaos.
