Nigerian music continues to shine, and the latest offering from highly gifted singer-songwriter Wizard Chan attests to that brilliance. Today, Wizard Chan has dropped his new single FLAKO, a vibrant collaboration with the exuberant rapper ODUMODUBLVCK. Produced by the talented Mr Soul, this track is a seamless fusion of two distinct worlds, blending Wizard Chan’s soulful finesse with ODUMODUBLVCK’s raw, unrelenting energy. The result? It’s a bouncy, feel-good anthem with layers of meaning that’s already sparking excitement among fans.

FLAKO kicks off with Wizard Chan’s sultry vocals, a hallmark of his reggae-infused Afro-teme style, instantly drawing listeners in with their warmth and depth. Known for his genre-bending approach—merging futuristic sounds with traditional roots—Wizard Chan sets the tone with attentive, heartfelt lyrics that resonate with emotion and authenticity. His verses weave a narrative that’s both introspective and uplifting, exhibiting his skill as a storyteller who can make the personal feel universal. It’s a smooth entry that primes the track for what’s to come, laying a melodic foundation that’s as captivating as it is soothing.

Then enters ODUMODUBLVCK, the Abuja-bred rap sensation whose fusion of hip-hop, grime, drill, and Afro-pop has earned him a fervent following. Bringing his signature fierceness to FLAKO, he injects the song with grit and exuberance, delivering hard-hitting bars with a playful yet commanding edge. His verse contrasts Wizard Chan’s mellow vibe with a burst of intensity, reflecting his self-styled “Okporoko Rhythms.” Lines crackle with his swagger, adding a dynamic shift that keeps the track unpredictable and electrifying.

Mr Soul’s production ties it all together with a masterful touch. The beat bounces with a lively rhythm, blending reggae undertones with hip-hop’s punchy drums, creating a soundscape that is danceable and thought-provoking. The production highlights the best of both artists, giving Wizard Chan room to soar with his vocals while providing ODUMODUBLVCK the space to unleash his lyrical prowess.

As Wizard Chan’s first recorded release of 2025, FLAKO serves as a compelling preview of his forthcoming album, expected later this year. Following his acclaimed 2024 EP The Messenger, which featured introspective cuts like Mr Sailor Man, this single signals a bold step forward, showcasing his versatility and willingness to collaborate across genres. For ODUMODUBLVCK, fresh off songs like Technician with Blaqbonez, FLAKO reinforces his reputation as a boundary-pushing force in Nigerian music, blending streetwise lyricism with mainstream appeal.
