Nasty C unlocks the deluxe edition for 'Free' album

South African Hip-Hop heavyweight Nasty C has officially expanded his 2025 masterpiece with the release of the Free (Deluxe Edition). Originally released to critical acclaim in September 2025, Free was a turning point for the Durban-born rapper, marking his first major independent project since leaving Def Jam. This deluxe version adds several new tracks, including the lead single No Typo, further cementing his status as a high-profile rapper.

The deluxe edition brings the total tracklist to 22 songs, offering fans a deeper look into Nasty C’s current state of mind. New additions like Shmokin 2.0 and the Head Up 2.0 featuring the Soweto Gospel Choir, provide a grander, more cinematic feel to the album’s narrative. Nasty C’s lyricism remains top-tier, blending trap-heavy production with vulnerable storytelling about fatherhood, independence, and the weight of fame.

One of the standout aspects of this release is the artist’s foray into production. Nasty C took a primary role in the beats for several tracks, showing a level of creative control that he hadn’t fully explored in earlier projects. The addition of local South African sounds, including subtle nods to Maskandi, exhibits his pride in his heritage while maintaining a sound that is polished for international ears.

The Free Deluxe Edition is not a collection of leftovers, it’s a refined extension of a pivotal era. With features from artists like Blxckie, Usimamane, and Tshego, the project serves as a comprehensive snapshot of the modern South African hip-hop business. It’s an album that demands to be heard in its entirety, proving that Nasty C is truly “free” to navigate his career on his own terms.
