Simi and Chike pair up for soulful tune 'Where You Dey'

Five years after their record-breaking hit Running (To You), Simi and Chike have finally reunited for Where You Dey, a single that proves lightning can indeed strike twice. Released under Simi’s Studio Brat imprint, the track is a masterclass in vocal harmony and romantic storytelling. Both artists have spent the intervening years maturing their individual sounds, Simi as a leading voice of alternative Afropop and Chike as the Boo of the Booless, but their chemistry remains as potent as ever. Where You Dey captures them in a state of melodic bliss, delivering a love song that feels nostalgic and refreshingly modern.

The production, led by long-time collaborator DeeYasso, is a lush, mid-tempo arrangement that leans into highlife and R&B influences. It features sparkling guitar licks and a steady, head-nodding rhythm that never overpowers the vocals. The arrangement is specifically designed to highlight the conversation between the two singers; Simi’s crystalline, high-register tone acts as a perfect foil to Chike’s warm, soulful baritone. Their voices blend so seamlessly during the chorus that it becomes difficult to tell where one ends and the other begins, a hallmark of their unique artistic synergy.

Lyrically, Where You Dey explores the theme of longing and the search for a partner in a busy, disconnected world. It’s a song about availability and the desire to be present for the one you love. Simi’s verse brings her signature wit and relatability, while Chike provides the emotional weight and lover boy charm that has become his trademark. The song avoids the overly simplistic “I love you” tropes, instead focusing on the daily check-ins and the small, meaningful moments that define a real relationship.

For the Nigerian music scene, Where You Dey is a welcome return to form for the classic duet. In a market often saturated with high-energy solo singles, this track offers a moment of calm and beauty. It is a safe bet for wedding playlists throughout 2026 and further cements Chike and Simi as the industry’s most reliable duo. They haven’t just released a song, they’ve reminded everyone why they are the undisputed monarchs of the Nigerian love song.
