Nigerian DJ and producer SPINALL has released his seventh studio album, Eko Groove, via TheCAP Music. Now out on all major platforms, Eko Groove is a love letter to Lagos, blending Afrobeats with other global genres, and it’s already setting dancefloors ablaze.

The anticipation for Eko Groove simmered for weeks, with SPINALL announcing the album on August 9 via a captivating teaser video and striking artwork. The clip showcased Lagos’ vibrant streets and global tour highlights, hinting at a project rooted in the city’s “Eko” energy. Pre-release singles like Early featuring Victony and Excited with Ami Faku, Heavy-K, and Niniola, built momentum, while the August 14 reveal of a star-studded lineup, Wizkid, Summer Walker, and Buju Banton among them, sent fans into a frenzy.

Spanning 48 minutes, Eko Groove fuses Afrobeats, amapiano, and reggae across its 14 tracks. The album opens with the titular Eko Groove featuring Ayinde Bakare, setting a rhythmic tone, while Struggle with Summer Walker, Buju Banton, and Jaz Karis delivers soulful depth. Collaborations with Wizkid, Niniola, and Teni showcase SPINALL’s knack for blending local and international flair, with production credits hinting at his hands-on role. The result is a danceable yet immersive journey, reflecting his tours since Topboy (2023).

SPINALL, born Oluseye Desmond Sodamola, has evolved from his 2015 debut My Story to become one of Africa’s premier DJs, with festival feats at Coachella and Glastonbury. His founding of TheCAP Music in 2014 and hits like Nowo with Wizkid have shaped his legacy. Eko Groove, recorded while touring, pays homage to his Lagos roots, aligning with his mission to globalize Nigerian sounds.

Streaming now on DSPs, Eko Groove is SPINALL’s triumphant ode to Lagos. Whether it cements his reign or sparks debate, this album beckons you to move.
