Nigerian music powerhouse Chocolate City released their monumental single Legacy, featuring veteran rappers Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince, and new-school sensation Blaqbonez. This track, produced by G-Plus Chang and Jace Kim, is a bold celebration of the label’s 20-year influence on Nigerian music, bringing nostalgia with a forward-looking vision for hip-hop.

Legacy is a cinematic hip-hop anthem that combines gritty beats with sharp lyricism. The production features a robust, nostalgic soundscape with booming drums and atmospheric synths, creating a backdrop that feels timeless and contemporary. Ice Prince kicks off with his signature smooth yet commanding flow, delivering bars that reaffirm his status as a Naija rap icon. Jesse Jagz follows with his laid-back, introspective wordplay, infusing the track with wisdom and depth. Blaqbonez brings youthful energy, clever punchlines, and swagger, bridging the generational gap with flair. The seamless interplay of their distinct styles creates a dynamic synergy, making Legacy a testament to Chocolate City’s enduring impact.

The song’s title, Legacy, is a powerful statement about Chocolate City’s two-decade journey as a trailblazer in the Nigerian music industry. Lyrically, it pays homage to the label’s history, from the era of hits like Oleku to the current wave of genre-fluid rap. The artists reflect on their personal contributions to the culture while celebrating the label’s role in shaping Nigerian music. Lines are packed with references to resilience, influence, and the evolution of rap, making the track both a tribute and a declaration of continued dominance.

Legacy is a cultural milestone. By uniting rap veterans with a new-generation star, Chocolate City showcases its ability to evolve while staying true to its roots. The track’s blend of nostalgia, lyrical prowess, and modern flair makes it a must-listen for hip-hop fans.
