Olamide reinforces legacy with eponymous album

Ace Nigerian rapper and YBNL Nation boss Olamide has released his highly anticipated self-titled album, Olamide, which marks a significant milestone in his illustrious career, a pivotal moment in his two-decade-long career. The 17-track project, his 11th studio album, further positions Olamide as one of the artists with the largest catalogues in the Afrobeats scene. With collaborations including Wizkid (appearing on Kai and Billionaires Club), Seyi Vibez (on Free and 99), and global icons like Dr. Dre (Indika) and Popcaan, the album reflects Olamide’s impeccable journey on how far he has come in the music business.

The album’s narrative arc traces Olamide’s personal and artistic growth, weaving themes of resilience, success, and cultural pride. It is built on the momentum of pre-release singles like Kai with Wizkid and 99 featuring Asake, Seyi Vibez, Young Jonn, and Daecolm, which have already generated buzz across streaming platforms and, of course, the streets. Tracks like Hasibunallah, Prelude, and Lalakipo hint at introspective and street-inspired themes, while the star-studded lineup, also including Asake, Darkoo, and Muyeez, underscores Olamide’s knack for nurturing both established and rising stars. Produced with his usual energy, Olamidé pays homage to his roots while pushing boundaries, further solidifying his status as a global ambassador for Nigerian music.

The album release follows Olamide’s recent Grammy nomination for Best Global Music Album and his consistent chart-topping streak, with six No. 1 singles in Nigeria over the past six years. The album’s timing coincides with heightened interest in Nigerian music globally, fueled by artists like Davido and Rema. Available now on streaming platforms, Olamidé is poised to dominate 2025’s music landscape, cementing Olamide’s legacy as a trailblazer who bridges local authenticity with international ambition.
