From Turntables to Therapy: DJ Kiss Is Redefining What It Means to Be a Global Sound Curator

From Turntables to Therapy: DJ Kiss Is Redefining What It Means to Be a Global Sound Curator

In today’s fast-evolving music landscape, where rhythm, identity, and influence meet, DJ Kiss stands out as a dynamic force. Rooted in Afrobeat but fluent in Amapiano, Afro House, and global dance genres, the Nigerian DJ has become known for her vibrant energy, sharp precision, and transformative sets.

But DJ Kiss is far more than a crowd-pleaser behind the decks. She is an architect of immersive sonic experiences. Her performances, whether in Lagos street parties, upscale lounges, underground raves, or global brand activations, aren’t just about beats; they’re about storytelling. With every set, she tells a story that connects continents, cultures, and communities, all while maintaining a distinctly African pulse.

Now, she’s expanding her impact beyond music. Currently studying to become a sex therapist, DJ Kiss is embracing a bold intersection: music, mental health, and human intimacy. “I’ve always been fascinated by the emotional and physical connections that shape us,” she says. “Sex therapy isn’t just about sex, it’s about healing, communication, vulnerability, and understanding how our desires and traumas shape our relationships.”

In a society where conversations around emotional intelligence and sexual wellness are often taboo, DJ Kiss is part of a new wave of African women breaking those silences. Her journey into therapy is both personal and visionary. She envisions creating safe spaces and resources, especially for women and creatives, to explore identity, intimacy, and emotional growth.

Her dual passions aren’t in conflict. They complement each other. “Music and therapy both connect us to ourselves and others,” she explains. “A DJ set can hold you emotionally, just like a therapy session. One is louder, one is quieter, but both are powerful.”

This blend of artistry and healing sets DJ Kiss apart. She sees both the DJ booth and the therapist’s chair as spaces for transformation, joy, release, and deep connection. In her world, sound isn’t just for celebration. It’s a catalyst for introspection and evolution.

Her influence extends into brand collaborations as well. Over the years, DJ Kiss has worked with global names like Martell, Hennessy, Jameson, Beefeater, Ballantine’s, and Moët & Chandon. These partnerships speak to her reach as a tastemaker who effortlessly blends local authenticity with international appeal.

Despite her influence, DJ Kiss remains grounded. She is deeply committed to community, knowledge-sharing, and empowering women, particularly African women, to thrive in multifaceted roles. As a DJ, therapy student, emerging producer, and brand in her own right, she stands confidently at the intersection of culture, healing, and self-actualization.

Her journey is anything but conventional,l and that’s exactly the point. DJ Kiss is carving a new path, one guided by rhythm but rooted in something far deeper. In her hands, a turntable is both an instrument of joy and a mirror for reflection. She isn’t just in the scene—she’s redefining it.

Looking ahead, DJ Kiss is focused on legacy, not just visibility. She’s stepping into production, with plans to create cohesive music projects and sonic experiences that reflect her vision. For her, music is more than entertainment—it’s art, therapy, and a means of cultural storytelling.
