Nigerian veteran music producer ID Cabasa has revived a timeless classic with the release of his reimagined single, Bere Mi (Ask About Me), featuring 9ice, Zlatan, T.I Blaze, and 2Phat. As the third single from his Unfinished Business album, the refreshing take on a beloved track weaves together the threads of nostalgia and modernity, delivering a record that resonates across generations.

Originally made by ID Cabasa in the early 2000s, Bere Mi was a cultural touchstone, brought to life by rapper 2Phat alongside the soulful vocals of 9ice. The song captured the spirit of its time with its infectious rhythm and relatable storytelling. Now, reimagined under Cabasa’s deft production, the track retains its foundational essence while embracing the vibrant pulse of today’s street-hop scene. Zlatan’s electrifying flair and T.I Blaze’s raw, soul-stirring energy infuse the single with a contemporary edge, transforming it into a bridge between the past and present. At its core, Bere Mi (Reimagined) is a tribute to the grind—a narrative of perseverance, hope, and the support of family that fuels success.

Reflecting on the project, ID Cabasa shared his enthusiasm:

Zlatan, celebrated for his street anthems, teams up with T.I Blaze, whose heartfelt melodies have quickly won over fans, breathe new life into the track. Their contributions meld seamlessly with ID Cabasa’s production, blending nostalgic beats with the gritty, kinetic vibe of modern Afrobeats. The result is a song that feels familiar and forward-looking, appealing to purists of the early 2000s Nigerian sound and the new wave of music fans.

The accompanying music video, directed by Wisdom Fortune and filmed in the bustling streets of Lagos, amplifies the single’s energy. Expect vivid visuals that capture the hustle and heart of the city, spotlighting Zlatan and T.I Blaze alongside Cabasa’s visionary touch. Bere Mi (Reimagined) is more than a remake—it’s a testament to ID Cabasa’s enduring influence and his ability to evolve a classic into a contemporary must-listen piece.
