Nigerian hip-hop sensation Blaqbonez has kicked off 2025 with a sizzling new single, W For Wetego, featuring Phyno and Young Jonn. Released under the Chocolate City banner, the song exhibits Blaqbonez’s genre-bending prowess, blending his razor-sharp lyricism with the infectious amapiano grooves. Co-produced by a stellar lineup of Black Culture, Arienati, DJ 808, and Lilgeebeatz, W For Wetego is an impressive piece of work, fusing log drums and sweet, melodic undertones into a dancefloor-ready and anthem-worthy sound.

At its core, W For Wetego is a celebration of the hustle, with its lyrical focus squarely on chasing wealth—whether it’s BTC, Euros, Dollars, or any currency that stacks up. The title itself, a playful nod to “W” for “win” and “wetego” hinting at getting that cash, encapsulates the trio’s relentless drive to secure the bag. This money-minded ethos resonates throughout the track, a motivational banger for anyone grinding for success.

The chemistry between Blaqbonez, Young Jonn, and Phyno is electric, each artist bringing their A-game to create a seamless collaboration. Young Jonn sets the tone with his usual charm, opening the track with smooth, captivating vocals that draw listeners in from the first note. His melodic flair lays the perfect foundation, blending effortlessly with the amapiano beat and giving the song its irresistible verse. Blaqbonez, the mastermind behind the track, dominates much of the runtime with his slick bars and charismatic delivery. Known for his witty wordplay and bold persona, he weaves through the beat with confidence, driving home the song’s central theme of financial triumph.

Phyno, the Nigerian hip-hop icon, rounds out the trio with a standout verse that elevates W For Wetego to another level. Rapping in a mix of Igbo and English, he infuses the track with cultural richness and street credibility, delivering punchlines with his trademark swagger. His contribution adds depth and a regional flavour that ties the song to its Eastern Nigerian roots, making it a powerful nod to the region’s musical legacy.

The production is a key highlight, with Black Culture, Arienati, DJ 808, and Lilgeebeatz crafting a polished and pulsating soundscape. The amapiano influence shines through in the track’s rolling log drums and lush melodies, creating a vibe that’s equal parts laid-back and energizing. This fusion of styles showcases the producers’ ability to merge global trends with local flair, ensuring the track appeals to both Nigerian audiences and international listeners.
