Afrobeats Star Lojay Returns with New Single “Somebody Like You”

Internationally celebrated Afrobeats singer-songwriter Lojay is back with a brand-new single, Somebody Like You, produced by two-time GRAMMY-nominated hitmaker Sarz. The laidback track seamlessly blends smooth chords, infectious percussion, and Lojay’s signature velvety vocals as he reflects on the pursuit of an ideal love.

On Somebody Like You, Lojay delivers a heartfelt narrative exploring themes of love, heartbreak, and healing. With lyrics like “What if I gave you love to my ceiling / What if I bought you a couple more reasons” and “I pray I find me a spiritual woman / But if I don’t I’ll use all my time / Just looking around for / Somebody like you”, the song captures the essence of longing and hope. The dreamy production—crafted by longtime collaborator Sarz—paired with Lojay’s emotive vocals creates a seamless blend of introspection and groove. The track offers an exciting first glimpse into the Lagos-born artist’s highly anticipated debut album, set for release later this year.

Reflecting on the song’s creation, Lojay shared:

“‘Somebody Like You’ tells a story of hope—the hope of healing and finding love again, even in the darkest moments. This is one song I really enjoyed writing because it paints a picture of love, heartbreak, and healing in under three minutes on an infectious instrumental.”

This release marks yet another exciting collaboration between Lojay and Sarz, following the critically acclaimed debut EP LV N ATTN.

Somebody Like You arrives on the heels of Lojay’s recent GRAMMY nomination for Sensational, his collaboration with global superstars Chris Brown and Davido. It also follows his surprise appearance during Chris Brown’s sold-out South African tour in December, where he performed in front of a staggering 100,000 fans over two nights. This electrifying moment further cemented Lojay’s rising international prominence and capped off an extraordinary year of milestones for the 28-year-old star.
