Joeboy & Tempoe rekindle their chemistry with 'SMH'

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Joeboy makes a return with his brand new single, SMH, produced by the serial hitmaker Tempoe. Released via Young Legend in partnership with Warner Music Africa, the track sees Joeboy expanding his sonic palette, blending his usual Afrobeats sound with rich Indian and Middle Eastern influences. With this release, Joeboy offers fans a tantalizing preview of his highly anticipated third studio album, set to drop later this year.

At its core, “SMH” — short for “Something’s Missing Here” — is a deeply introspective song that explores the ephemeral nature of relationships. On the track’s message, Joeboy reflects:

The song captures the push and pull of an irresistible yet toxic love affair, as Joeboy’s silky vocals float effortlessly over Tempoe’s intricate production. Built around a hypnotic Indian/Middle Eastern-inspired sample, SMH draws listeners in with its lush instrumentation, mesmerizing percussion, and an addictive groove that lingers long after the song ends.

The new collaboration sees Joeboy and Tempoe rekindling their amazing chemistry. Tempoe, the mastermind behind some of Afrobeats’ biggest hits—including Sip (Alcohol), Door (feat. Kwesi Arthur), and CKay’s global smash Love Nwantiti—brings his signature touch to SMH, further elevating his status as one of the most innovative producers in the game.

With SMH, Joeboy is once again proving his ability to evolve while staying true to his melodic roots. The track sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting new chapter in his career, building anticipation for his forthcoming album. If SMH is any indication, Joeboy is ready to take his sound to a new level in 2025.
