Dapper Group Finds Its Place As Nigerian Music Industry Powerhouse

In the vibrant landscape of Nigerian music, Dvpper Digital, a subsidiary of the Dapper Group, stands tall. The group captured nearly 8% of Nigeria’s streaming market share in the three quarters of 2024, thus establishing itself as a formidable force in African music distribution and entertainment.

Founded by Damilola “Dapper Damm” Akinwunmi and led by Vice President Tee-Y Mix (Temitayo Ibitoye), the Dapper Group has transformed Nigeria’s entertainment landscape through its comprehensive approach to music distribution, publishing, and artist development. Under the leadership of Ademola Alugo and Sani Bawa Ibrahim, Dvpper Digital has been the driving force behind numerous chart-topping releases, including Mr. Real’s Legbegbe, Omah Lay’s Get Layd EP, and Shallipopi’s recent albums. The company’s impact extends to launching breakthrough artists like T.I BLAZE, who ranked among Audiomack’s most-streamed Nigerian artists in 2022.

Dapper Music Entertainment, the group’s record label arm, has built an impressive roster featuring rising stars such as Balloranking, Lasmid, and Bhad Boi OML. Senior Vice President and Head of A&R, Kelechi “CHOPPER” Akwari, spearheads the label’s innovative approach to artist development, focusing on both musical talent and brand building.

The group’s strategic partnership with Virgin Music has amplified its global reach, while its S94 Publishing division ensures artists receive fair compensation through comprehensive royalty collection and licensing services.

With its multifaceted business model and commitment to nurturing diverse talent, the Dapper Group continues to shape the future of Nigerian entertainment, promising even greater achievements in the years ahead.
