It’s been 4 years since Wizkid dropped his album “Made in Lagos” on October 30, 2020. This album was a vibe – an Afrobeat journey that took fans straight to the heart of Lagos.

With “Made in Lagos”, Wizkid made some magic. He blended infectious rhythms, smooth R&B, and Afrobeat flavor to create a sound that was instantly captivating. Songs like “Essence” featuring Tems became the anthem of 2021 – a summer jam that felt as warm and groovy as a sunset in Lagos.

The numbers don’t lie – “Made in Lagos” is a certified hit. In the United States alone, it sold over 820,000 copies, making it the first African album to go Gold there. This is huge – it shows that Afrobeat is taking over the world.

A big part of the album’s magic is how it transports you to Lagos, this is what makes “Made in Lagos” a true masterpiece. Tracks like “Ginger” with Burna Boy and “No Stress” have these infectious African drum beats and melodies that make you feel like you’re dancing through the streets of the city. Wizkid really brings you into his world. And it’s not just the music – “Made in Lagos” opened doors for other African artists to reach new heights. The “Essence” remix with Justin Bieber was a massive crossover hit, showing that Afrobeat can vibe with global pop.

4 years later, “Made in Lagos” is still an absolute banger. It’s a timeless Afrobeat party that celebrates the sound and soul of Lagos. Whether it’s your first time or your hundredth, this album always hits the spot. It’s a testament to Wizkid’s genius, a celebration of African culture, sound, and soul. Wizkid is a true icon, and this album cements his status as the king of Afrobeat.
