Nigerian international superstar Davido is back with a bang, unveiling his first official single of the year as a lead artist, Awuke. The track, which features American-Jamaican singer-songwriter YG Marley, sees both artists bring their uniqueness to the song. Awuke was co-produced by Mikababeatz and Marvey Muzique, who created a beat that effortlessly blends Afrobeats sounds with contemporary, global elements.

Following the success of his critically acclaimed fourth studio album, Timeless, Awuke stands as a reminder of Davido’s continued influence in the music industry. While Davido’s dynamic vocals and infectious hooks drive the song, YG Marley complements the sound with a smooth verse that adds a sultry depth to the track. Their synergy is palpable, as each artist channels their style while keeping the focus on the central theme of admiration and love.

In Awuke, Davido and YG Marley take turns singing praises for their love interest, captivated by her beauty and charm. The lyrics are full of vivid imagery, emphasizing admiration for her physical allure and confident presence. The song’s rhythm is upbeat and catchy, lending itself well to the dance floor while also providing a good listening experience.

For Davido’s fans, Awuke is a refreshing addition to his discography and signals an exciting year ahead in 2025. As Afrobeat continues to gain momentum globally, Awuke is a powerful reminder of Davido’s role as a pioneer of the business, and his collaboration with YG Marley attests to Afrobeats’ influence on artists worldwide. The track is expected to make waves on the charts, as it captivates listeners with its blend of rhythm, romance, and charm.

The song is complemented by a befitting music video directed by DAPS.
